Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Empty Dinosaur Earth Project

Post by Thunder101 Fri Oct 23, 2009 8:24 pm

Hello my research is going to be about the Triceratops. They are herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaurs. The term Triceratops means "three horned face". Triceratops are estimated to have reached about 7.9 to 9.0 m 26.0–29.5 ft in length, 2.9 to 3.0 m 9.5–9.8 ft in height. That's one of the amazing features of the Triceratops. It shared it's landscape with it's preyed upon furious Tyrannosaurus Rex. The two of them battled mostly everywhere about dinosaurs either if it's a children book or a movie. It was actually one of the last dinosaur genera to appear before the great Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event. This is how they got extinct.

Deinonychus:
This dinosaur was the size of a man! What is amazing about it is its legs. It has a claw on each leg which is 12cm and can be fatal! That is why they named it Deinonychus which means 'terrible claw' Smile
Stegosaurus:
The stegosaurus was easy to stop because of its big plates on its back. Amazingly, these plates were used to control body temperature, and not for defense. It weight 1.5 tonne.
Archaeopteryx:
Did you know that this feathered dinosaur was probably the ancestor of the birds? It was a coloured bird, and about the size of a crow.
Why did Dinosaurs die out?
Dinosaurs roamed the earth for about 160 million years. Then about 65 million years ago they vanished. No-one really knows why. Some scientists think that a huge meteor hit the earth and started volcano eruptions-the dust and ash would have blotted the sun out for years. Or perhaps the earths climate grew much colder and the cold-blooded dinosaurs could not stand the cold as well as the warm-blooded mammals that started to live on the earth.
Did you know?
-The Tyrannosaurus Rex survived by killing smaller Rex's rather than killing its own prey!
-The Pteranodon had a flat horn on the back of its head which acted like a rudder.
-Some meat eating dinosaurs were the size of a small chicken like the Euparkeria.

:

Chasmatosaurus, a crocodile-like, meat-eater (a thecodont) from the Triassic period.
Thecodonts may have been ancestors of the dinosaurs

The largest dinosaurs were over 100 feet (30 m) long and up to 50 feet (15 m) tall (like Argentinosaurus, Seismosaurus, Ultrasauros, Brachiosaurus, and Supersaurus). The smallest dinosaurs, like Compsognathus, were about the size of a chicken. Most dinosaurs were in-between.

Some walked on two legs (they were bipedal), some walked on four (they were quadrupedal). Some could do both.
Some were speedy (like Velociraptor), and some were slow and lumbering (like Ankylosaurus).
Some were armor-plated, some had horns, crests, spikes, or frills.
Some had thick, bumpy skin, and some even had primitive feathers.

Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Diosau10

Dinosaurs were animals that lived millions of years ago. Many dinosaurs were very big.But some were as small as chickens are today. Most dinosaurs ate only plants. Some dinosaurs ate other animals. They were meat eaters.Scientists aren't sure what color dinosaurs were. Some think dinosaurs might have been as colorful as many birds are today. In 1902, part of a huge skeleton was uncovered in Montana.Later, another was found in Wyoming. From these bones the American paleontologist Henry Fairfield Osborn drew up the first pictures of this giant creature. He named it Tyrannosaurus Rex (meaning 'king of the tyrant reptiles') because it was the biggest meat - eating dinosaur then known to have lived on Earth.Scientists in Argentina, South America, claim to have found the world's oldest dinosaur. This creature, called Herrarasaurus, is said to be 230 million years old.Dinosaurs sometimes had accidents, and fossil bones have been found with fractures in them. The most complete skeleton of a Stegosaurus ever found has been dug up at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. It had to be hauled out of the earth by an army helicopter.Your dentist's drill has other uses.In the laboratory, scientists often use dental drills to clear and prepare dinosaur bones.Tracks left in the mud by dinosaurs provide clues as to how quickly they moved.By measuring the distance between footprints, experts have worked out that some dinosaurs could have reached speeds up to 25 mph.Velociraptor was probably very fierce.A fossil found in Utah, shows its claws may have been up to 15 inches in length--as long as a three-year-old child's arm. These claws formed very effective hooks with which to hold prey

Dinosaurs (Greek: δεινόσαυρος, deinosauros) were the dominant terrestrial vertebrate animals for over 160 million years, from the late Triassic period, about 230 million years ago (Ma), until the end of the Cretaceous period, about 65 Ma, when most of them became extinct in the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event. The fossil record indicates that birds evolved from theropod dinosaurs during the Jurassic period, and most paleontologists regard them as the only clade of dinosaurs to have survived until the present day.

The term "dinosaur" was coined in 1842 by Sir Richard Owen and derives from Greek δεινός (deinos) "terrible, powerful, wondrous" + σαῦρος (sauros) "lizard".

Since the first dinosaur fossils were recognized in the early nineteenth century, mounted dinosaur skeletons have become major attractions at museums around the world. Dinosaurs have become a part of world culture and remain consistently popular. They have been featured in best-selling books and films such as Jurassic Park, and new discoveries are regularly covered by the media. As a result, the word "dinosaur" has entered the common vernacular, although its use and meaning in colloquial speech may be inconsistent with modern science. In English, for example, "dinosaur" is commonly used to describe anything that is impractically large, slow-moving, obsolete, or bound for extinction.

Dinosaurs were an extremely varied group of animals. Paleontologists have identified over 500 distinct genera and more than 1,000 different species of dinosaur, and remains have been found on every continent on Earth. Some dinosaurs were herbivorous, others carnivorous. Some were bipedal, others quadrupedal, and others were able to shift between these body postures. Many species developed elaborate skeletal modifications such as bony armor, horns or crests. Although generally known for their large size, many dinosaurs were human-sized or even smaller. Most major groups of dinosaurs are known to have built nests and laid eggs, suggesting an oviparity similar to that of modern birds.

Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Empty Re: Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs

Post by blacky321 Sat Oct 24, 2009 12:28 am

Practically every child in the world, at some point, has been enthused with dinosaurs. Actually, probably most adults are intrigued by the dinosaur facts that have shown up over the years, also. Dinosaurs were a great part of our world history, and even though we may never fully understand them, or why they are now extinct, the fact remains that walking with dinosaurs must have been an amazing feat, and we all, in some way, would like to know more about the mystery that is dinosaurs.

Dinosaur facts have sprung up giving us some clue as to the life that these amazing creatures led and the tremendous size of some of them. Dinosaur pictures, although clearly recreated, have given us some insight to their size and shape, but it still seems that we know so little about what they were really like. Of course, we know a few facts about them from the many movies, television specials, and news broadcasts covering the latest dig for dinosaurs, but how much do we really know? We know that the most common Jurassic dinosaurs were the Camarasaurus. And we know that walking with dinosaurs is something that, if we are perfectly honest with ourselves, we have all dreamed about at some point.

Children, of course, think that a dinosaur is the most awesome creature in the world. Dinosaurs for kids are plentiful. Stuffed animals, movies, action figures, all represent to children to amazing creatures that dinosaurs were. As we get older, we don’t lose the awe that dinosaurs inspire in us. As new dinosaur facts are presented we are all glued to the television or newspaper just trying to comprehend the magnitude of the era in which dinosaurs ruled the world. And it seems that the more we know, the more we want to know. We will forever be enthralled in the process of learning about dinosaurs.
The sad thing is, we may never fully know what walking with dinosaurs would be like. We can watch the movies and learning specials, but to have actually walked in their world is a feeling that seems out of reach. However, the more we learn about these amazing creatures, the more we can strive to place ourselves in their world. One day, it may be possible to get a feel of what living and walking with dinosaurs really was. Until then, we can
still dream.

Heyy!Im bubu1028 and im gonna share some info about the Apatosaurus!

Apatosaurus:

Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus was one of the largest land animals that ever existed. The dinosaur Brontosaurus is now called Apatosaurus. This enormous plant-eater measured about 70-90 feet (21-27 m) long and about 15 feet (4.6 m) tall at the hips. It weighed roughly 33-38 tons (30-35 tonnes). Shocked Its head was less than 2 feet long; it had a long skull and a very tiny brain. This plant-eater had a long neck (with 15 vertebrae), a long whip-like tail (about 50 ft = 15 m long), a hollow backbone, peg-like teeth in the front of the jaws, and four massive, column-like legs. Its hind legs were larger than the front legs. Very Happy Fossilized Apatosaurus footprints (called trackways) have been found (in Colorado, USA) that were about a yard wide. Suspect
Apatosaurus could have held its head at most 17 feet (5.4 m) off the ground (Parrish and Stevens,1999). Allosaurus, which was the biggest meat-eater at that time in North America, was only 15 feet (4.6 m) tall. This afforded Apatosaurus protection from predators, since carnivores like Allosaurus couldn't attack its head or neck, and probably had more sense than to attack its gigantic, clawed feet or whip-like tail. bounce
Strangely, Apatosaurus' nostrils were located on the top of its head. No one is sure what purpose this served. It used to be thought that this was a snorkel-like device for a water-dwelling animal, but this theory has been repudiated. Since Apatosaurus fossils have been found far from any water-dwelling fossils, it is now believed that Apatosaurus spent most of its time on land, far from large bodies of water or swamps. affraid

Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Empty Re: Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs

Post by AxelNinja Sat Oct 24, 2009 2:20 am

Hey there friends ! Im going to write some Q,answers and some facts about Dinosaurs ! Okie dokie lets start Very Happy :-
Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. They were reptiles a group of animals that today includes lizards and snakes, turtles and tortoises, crocodiles and alligators.Dinosaurs lived only during the mesozoic Era or so-called Age of Reptiles. The mesozoic Era lasted from 250 million to 65 million years ago. No one has ever seen a living dinosaur. The earliest of human ancestors did not appear on Earth until 4 million years ago. The dinosaurs lived throughout the Mesozoic Era. Different sorts lived at different times. Dinosaurs fossils have been found on every continent, even Auntarctica. But since dinosaurs first appeared on Earth, the position of the continents have changed a great deal. The first complete skeleton of a dinosaur was found in 1878!Almost 40 skeletons of [u]Iguandon were found in a coal mine in Belgium.
Now Q and answers :-
1.What colour were the dinosaurs?
Nobody knows the real colours of dinosaurs because the pigment is not preserved in their fossils. Occasionally, skin impressions of dinosaurs are found, but the skin itself decomposes rapidly. Many palaeontologists believe that dinosaurs were probably earth-tone colours (green. grey, brown) similar to reptiles of today, so they would be camouflaged in their environment.

2.How old did dinosaurs get?
It is not possible, from the fossil record, to age the dinosaurs. Growth rings in the teeth could not be used because they were constantly being replaced throughout the lifespan of the dinosaur. However, based on comparison to modern reptiles and large mammals, it is estimated that dinosaurs may have lived for 50-150 years.

3.How can you tell is a dinosaur is male or female?
By studying the fossils, it is not possible to identify the gender of a particular dinosaur because reproductive organs do not fossilize. There may be slight differences in the processes of the caudal (tail) vertebrae in the females because they lay eggs. Some palaeontologists assume that larger skulls of the same species are male, whereas the slightly smaller ones are female. The tendency in nature, in vertebrates, is the larger member of the species are male. Some dinosaurs, such as the duckbills and ceratopsians, exhibit head ornamentation. It is speculated that the more elaborate crests and frills belong to the male of the species and is used in display rituals for attracting mates and defending territory, much like is seen today in many animals.

4.What was the largest dinosaur?
Based on the findings from complete skeletons, the largest (meaning tallest and heaviest) dinosaur was Brachiosaurus. They were 12 meters (40 feet) tall and weighed 70-80 tons. However a few fossils from four other dinosaurs (Supersaurus, Seismosaurus, Argentinosaurus, and Ultrasaurus) have been found that indicate they may have been larger than Brachiosaurus. Presently, only partial skeletons of these other dinosaurs have been discovered, so it is not certain whether they are new species or simply very large Branchiosaurs.

5.Which dinosaur was the smallest?
The smallest dinosaur that palaeontologists have identified is Compsognathus. This dinosaur was not much larger than a chicken. The adults reached lengths of two feet, with more than half of this length being attributed to its long, thin tail.

6.Which is the smartest dinosaur?
Troodon seemed to have had the largest brain of any dinosaur in relation to its body size. This probably indicates that they were the most intelligent dinosaur. Some palaeontologists think that Troodon was as smart as an ostrich, which is smarter than any reptile on Earth today.

7.Who was the toughest dinosaur?
Most people think Tyrannosaurus rex was the toughest dinosaur, but T-rex may have been more of a scavenger instead of a ferocious hunter. The toughest and meanest dinosaur was likely Deinonychus. This Cretaceous theropod was only about 1.5 metres tall, 2.7 metres long and weighed about as much as an average man. In spite of their relatively small size, these dinosaurs were one of the most extraordinary predators of all time. With keen eyesight, large serrated teeth, grasping hands, great agility, and five-inch long sickle-shaped claws on each hind foot, they would have been ferocious enemies.

8.Were the dinosaurs warm or cold-blooded?
All reptiles living today are ectothermic (cold-blooded) animals that have a body temperature which varies with their surrounding temperature. Endothermic (warm-blooded) animals, like mammals, generate their own constant body heat. Since dinosaurs were reptiles, most scientists assumed that they were also ectothermic. However, recently, some palaeontologists have disputed this claim and they believe that some dinosaurs may have in fact been endothermic (warm-blooded). This has led to much controversy and debate in the scientific community.

In looking for clues to this mystery, palaeontologists have considered such factors as posture (upright gait vs sprawling gait), activity levels (high vs low), and the ratio between predators and prey. The leading proponent of the warm-blooded theory is the reknowned palaeontologist, Robert Bakker. Since warm-blooded animals have so many advantages over cold-blooded animals, Bakker believes that dinosaurs could only have gained supremacy over the mammals if they were warm-blooded also.

It's possible that the question of warm-bloodedness vs cold-bloodedness may never be satisfactorily answered since no flesh, muscles, or organs of dinosaurs are preserved. The answer may not be as simple as saying that dinosaurs such as the small theropods were warm-blooded. This is indicated because of their supposed high activity levels. On the other hand, the large sauropods probably were cold-blooded because it would have been near impossible for them to eat enough food to maintain a constant body temperature.

9.How big were dinosaur eggs?
Relatively speaking, dinosaur eggs were quite small, considering the size of the dinosaur (i.e. hadrosaur laid eggs about the size of a turkey's or slightly larger). Even the gigantic sauropods probably didn't have eggs much bigger than a volleyball. This is because the bigger the egg, the thicker the shell has to be to keep it from collapsing. A very thick shell poses two big problems. Firstly, it would be too thick for oxygen to permeate so the embryos would not have been able to breathe. Secondly, the shell would have been too thick for the hatchlings to push their way out.

10.Why did dinosaurs die?
This question has the distinction of being the most often asked and most difficult to answer. Many theories have been proposed to explain why dinosaurs became extinct at the end of the Mesozoic era.

Extinction occurs when all living representations of a species die out. This has happened to many kinds of plants and animals in the Earth's history. The environment we live in is always changing. Plants and animals that cannot adapt to change die out and become extinct. Mass extinction, the extinction of a wide range of forms of life, occurs more rarely. The most famous of these extinction, although neither the first nor the most pervasive, is the extinction of the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous Period, 65 million years ago. Scientists have tried to explain why many different forms of life, including the dinosaurs, became extinct. Their theories can be divided into two major groups:

1.Gradualistic theories hold that the dinosaurs were in a slow decline and that gradual changes in the environment caused their extinction.
2.Catastrophic theories hold that dinosaurs disappeared abruptly due to some world-wide catastrophe.

Unfortunately, we are not sure what was going on in the rest of the world. Perhaps the climate conditions and habitats were degrading only locally. There may have been ideal conditions somewhere else where dinosaurs maintained their high levels of diversity. But such a site still has not been discovered. The gradual decline in diversity seems to be tied in with the development of harsher, more continental climates as the inland seas dried up. But could it have caused the complete extinction of such a successful group of animals?
And here is my drawing sorry no color but it is still cool huh Twisted Evil ?

Post by Terranova_Girl Sat Oct 24, 2009 5:14 am

Dinosaurs were reptiles and most dinosaurs hatched from eggs. Amazingly blue whales are bigger than any dinosaur found so far. The largest dinosaurs were over 100 feet long and up to 50 feet tall. The smallest dinosaurs, were about the size of a chicken.
No one knows exactly what noises dinosaurs made, what color they were or even when they lived. But scientist do have theories on these topics.
Most dinosaurs were plant-eaters (herbivores i think thats the way you write) about 65% of them. Some dinosaurs were meat-eaters (carnivores and about that im not sure if its the right word). Dinosaurs had many different distinguishing features.
No one really knows exactly how many dinosaur species exist. The estimates vary from between 250 to over 1300 species.

The term dinosaur (terrible lizard) was coined by the English anatomist Sir Richard Owen in 1842.

No one knows how the dinosaurs became extinct or even if they are extinct, but there are many interesting theories on the topic.

Hey hiki found out some info and it isn't from the internet,I don't cheat here it is:

Dinosaurs are the oldest living creatures/mammals on the world.
Apparently theirs 400 different types of them that were scaterd across the world in prehistoric times
Some dinosaurs weren't actual recognized as dinosaurs as some had different forms

Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Empty earth research dinosaur competition raptors

Post by jamesbot Sat Oct 24, 2009 6:14 am

What was the largest raptor? -Irvine

A: This is probably the scariest dinosaur that ever walked the earth. Remember when I said T-Rex was the scariest? Well, Utahraptor would give it some pretty good competition! At 21 ft (7m) long and 6.6 ft (2m) tall, it was easily the biggest raptor of them all. The raptors you saw in Jurassic Park weren’t velociraptors, but they weren’t even as big as these guys.

Like other raptors, Utahraptor had a big ol’ claw coming out of its foot that it used to slice open its prey. The largest claws could reach up to 9.4 in (23.9 cm)! Not only was it long, it was thick too. While one Utahraptor was insanely dangerous on its own, a small group of them could take down any dinosaur that ever existed.

How did Raptors eggs looked like? - Cos

A: Well Cos, something like this…

These are a set of raptor eggs from the Cretaceous time period, found in China. What do you think?

Contrary to the image of raptors as cruel and merciless, young raptor fossils show that they were proportionally smaller and had bigger eyes than adults. This suggests to paleontologists that they were fed and cared for by their parents for at least a short time after their birth. The raptor… one of the most sensationalized dinosaurs of all time. They captivated audiences in Jurassic Park and their image haunts the dreams of children around the globe. The raptors were among the deadliest of all dinosaurs to ever walk the earth. Whether small or big, these dinos were able to take down just about any prey they set their sights on. study

The Heaviest Dinosaur

The heaviest dinosaur was Brachiosaurus at 80 tonnes. It was the equivalent to 17 African Elephants. Brachiosaurus was 16m tall and 26m long and is the largest dinosaur skeleton to be mounted in a museum.

The Smallest Dinosaur Egg - How To Tell a Dinosaur Egg from a Rock?

Dinosaur eggs come in all shapes and sizes. They tend to be ovoid or spherical in shape and up to 30cm in length - about the size of a rugby ball. The smallest dinosaur egg so far found is only 3cm long. Once the egg has been fossilised it will become hard like rock, but it will retain a structure of its own.

The Smallest Dinosaur

The smallest fully-grown fossil dinosaur is the little bird-hipped plant-eater like lesothosaurus, which was only the size of a chicken. Smaller fossilised examples have been found, but these are of baby dinosaurs.

The Most Brainy Dinosaur

One of the most intelligent dinosaurs was Troodon. It was a hunting dinosaur, about 2 metres long, and had a brain size similar to that of a mammal or bird of today, stereoscopic vision, and grasping hands

The Dumbest Dinosaur

Stegosaurus had a brain the size of a walnut - only 3 centimetres long and weighing 75 grams. However, comparing brain size to body size sauropodomorphs, like Plateosaurus, were probably one of the dumbest dinosaurs.and heres the pic i madehttps://i.servimg.com/u/f86/14/46/44/01/s10.jpg
its the dumbest dinosaur lol jk

Hello guys!
Oh then...

Zuniceratops

Scientific classification

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Sauropsida
Superorder: Dinosauria
Order: Ornithischia
Suborder: Marginocephalia
Infraorder: Ceratopsia
Genus: Zuniceratops

Zuniceratops ('Zuni-horned face') was a ceratopsian dinosaur from the mid Turonian of the LateCretaceous Period of what is now New Mexico, United States. It lived about 10 million years earlier than the more familiar horned Ceratopsidae and provides an important window on their ancestry.

Zuniceratops appears to have been roughly 3 to 3.5 meters long (10-11 ft) and three feet (one meter) tall at the hips. It probably weighed 100 to 150 kilograms (200 to 250 lb). The frill behind its head was fenestrated but lacking epoccipitals. It is the earliest-known ceratopsian to have eyebrow horns and the oldest-known ceratopsian from North America. This set of horns is thought to have grown much larger with age.

Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Vcbnk

Discovery and Species

Zuniceratops was discovered in 1996, by 8 year old Christopher James Wolfe, son of paleontologist Douglas G. Wolfe, in the Moreno Hill Formation in west-central New Mexico. One skull and the bones from several individuals have been found. More recently, one bone, believed to be a squamosal, has since been found to be an ischium of a Nothronychus.

Classification

Zuniceratops is an example of the evolutionary transition between early ceratopsians and the later, larger ceratopsids that had very large horns and frills. This supports the theory that the lineage of ceratopsian dinosaurs may have been North American in origin.

Although the first specimen discovered had single-rooted teeth (unusual for ceratopsians), later fossils had double-rooted teeth. This is evidence that the teeth became double-rooted with age. Zuniceratops was a herbivore like other ceratopsians and was probably a herd animal as well.

Good luck for everyone!

Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Empty Utahraptor(interesting facts about dinosaur)

Hi Hiki,
Interesting facts about Utahraptor lol!

How do I pronounce Utahraptor? You-taw-rap-tore Laughing

How long was Utahraptor? 18.00 feet 5.50 meters

How heavy was Utahraptor? 1100.00 pounds or 500.00 kilograms

Utahraptor lived 120,000,000 years ago in early Cretaceous period.
It is a skilled and powerful hunter that was discovered in central Utah, North America in 1993. It is one of the largest Raptors. Utahraptor used its sharp sickel-like claw to slash and rip apart larger plant eating animals. Its sharp teeth is used to bite and tear its victims.

Utahraptor was a warm-blooded animal. Fossil evidence shows that the inside of Utahraptor's bones was more like a modern day Mammal, then like that of a cold-blooded animal. This would have given Utahraptor a huge advantage over its prey.
The large cold-blooded plant eating Dinosaurs would have been very slow each morning as they waited for the Sunlight to heat their bodies to a point where they could move more quickly.
This would have been the perfect time for Utahraptor to attack. If it was warm-blooded, Utahraptor would have been fast moving no matter what the temperature outside.

Last fact Did you know that to help it balance on one foot while kicking, the Utahraptors' tail stiffened. Shocked

Interesting Facts about Dinosaurs - Page 2 Empty dinosaurs research

Post by famouschobots Sat Oct 24, 2009 1:23 pm

My name is famouschobots and here is what I have found out about dinosaurs!
Utahraptor:
Like other raptors, Utahraptor had a big ol’ claw coming out of its foot that it used to slice open its prey. The largest claws could reach up to 9.4 in (23.9 cm)! Not only was it long, it was thick too. While one Utahraptor was insanely dangerous on its own, a small group of them could take down any dinosaur that ever existed.

Megalosaurus:
Robert Plot, an English museum curator, found a bone in 1676 that he believed to be the thigh bone of an ancient giant human being. Based on drawings we have of his find, most assume it was part of a Megalosaurus bone.

Mauisaurus:
Like Liopleurodon, Mauisaurus was a plesiosaur. Mauisaurus measured out to be a whopping 65ft (20m) in length and was the longest sea reptile of them all. Found only in New Zealand fossil beds, Mauisaurus must have been a fearsome predator during its day. They’ve even found a fossil of one fighting a mosasaur!

Argentinosaurus:
If you’re looking for the dinosaur that weighed the most it would have to be Argentinosaurus. This big guy lived about 100 million years ago and weighed 100 tons! In case you don’t realize how big that is, its about the weigh of 20 huge elephants!

dromaeosaurs:
The first dromaeosaurs appeared during the Middle Jurassic. These early raptors were smaller and most of them were covered in feathers. Although they first started appearing during this time, it wasn’t until the Middle and Late Cretaceous that they became more common and diversified. It was during those times that Velociraptor and Utahraptor were roaming the land and eating anything they could get their claws on.

That's all i got it was hard work finding all that information !But at the same time i enjoyed it!
hope i win XD!

heyy guys, and hiki ^^ here's my entry bout velociraptors dinosaur study study

Velociraptor means speedy thief and was a mid-sized dromaeosaurids, with adults measuring up to 2.07 m (6.8 ft) long, 0.5 m (1.6 ft) high at the hip, and weighing up to 15 kg (33 lb). Velociraptor, like other dromaeosaurids, had a large Manus ('hand') with three strongly curved claws, which were similar in construction and flexibility to the wing bones of modern birds. The arms were long and it had strong chest and arm muscles. It swallowed its food in gulps instead of chewing, like most theropods. Velociraptor had a elongated skull with a flat nose and long, functional arms. One toe on each foot was large and shaped like a sickle-it would have
caused a lot of carnage! It could also have done much damage with its
dagger-shaped teeth that were serrated like a saw. Shocked
Velociraptor had large eyes and probably had three-dimensional vision, they are meat eaters which means they are carnivores, they could jump up to 12 feet to reach its prey.

_____________________________________________________________________________

here\'s another one bout Parasaurolophus dinosaur
Razz

Parasaurolophus means "like crested lizard", they an elongated, bony crest on its head with which it may have made low-frequency, fog-horn-like sounds. The crest was up to 6 feet (1.8 m) long.. It had pebbly-textured skin, a spoon-shaped beak, and a pointy tail. It may have had webbed fingers, giving it a mitten-like hand, Parasaurolophus was an herbivore, eating pine needles, leaves, and twigs. Its sight and hearing were keen, but it had no natural defenses. It had a toothless, horny beak and numerous cheek teeth. Parasaurolophus walked and ran on two legs, and was a relatively fast dinosaur. It probably went on all fours to forage for plants. It may have spent some time in the water. Parasaurolophus is able to use these tubes to communicate with its fellow herd members. This crest was probably used to produce a loud bellow or call by exhaling air from these tubes within. Parasaurolophus was a good swimmer and had strong arms and a tail which was flattened from side to side.

Hiya Hiki! I did mine on the Kritosaurus! (Pronounced: CRY-tuh-SAWR-us)

The Kritosaurus was discovered in 1904 by Barnum Brown in New Mexico. When it was discovered, Brown had a lot of issues naming the new dino! He went through about three names before he studied the analogy of it, and thought Kritosaurus fit best.
The Kritosaurus was really tall - perfect for reaching the tops of the trees to eat the leaves! It had hundreds of teeth, but they were only used for grinding up the plants it ate, and only a handful were used at any given time.
This dino wasn't small, either. Reaching up to about 23 feet (7 meters) tall, and stretching to almost 30 feet (9.1 meters) long! It was a herbivore that lived during the Late Cretaceous period.

The pic i drew of it wont upload to here, so I'll email it to Chobots Support =)
